The chicken coop was designed and built by two semester’s of Ecosa students when I was an Instructor in 2010.
Built in less than two weeks for $280 the coop project allowed students to design a real project and get their hands dirty with a variety of construction methods.
The students created designs for a chicken coop learning hand drafting and Sketchup modeling in the process.
Then… we built my design, which was created to be a showcase of alternative and traditional construction materials and methods, including:
- cordwood
- cob
- strawbale
- earthbag
- wood framing
- metal roofing
- lime and earth plasters
- repurposed and found materials
